Oakland rap
According to Moonalice legend, tonight is Jerry Garcia night at Oakland Coliseum.
Jerry is our tribe’s favorite 9 1/2 fingered musician. Baseball is our favorite pastime. We hail from other parts of the country and some of us brought baseball allegiances to the Bay Area, but tonight we are all fans of the Oakland A’s. All of us but Timmy, our sound man. He lives in Baltimore and is all in for the O’s. The rest of us love Zack Geldof. We love Stomper. We love Esteury Ruiz.
Tonight’s poster by Chris Shaw reminds us that Jerry Garcia loved baseball. Deadheads are like baseball fans in that they keep track of every statistic. 28 years after his death, Jerry continues to have a huge impact on our culture. Let’s hope he can deliver a win tonight for the hometown team!
Notes:
Our set was in Lot A outside the Coliseum before the Orioles-As game. Orioles won 9-4.
Rob Barraco played keys and sang.
Stu Allen played guitar and sang Brokedown Palace
Grahame Lesh played guitar and sang Not Fade Away and Goin’ Down the Road Feelin’ Bad
